Cranberry Relish Recipe + Allergen Free Thanksgiving

Happy December!  I can’t believe 11 whole months of this year have passed (and at lightening speed at that).


We were in Nebraska for the weekend celebrating Thanksgiving with my family and we had so much fun.  There was lots of relaxation, laughs and love had by all.

We ended up having Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday and we made less food this year because my sister and her husband weren’t able to make it, but it was just as good (even gluten, dairy and egg free)!

My favorite dish is cranberry relish.  It’s sweet, tart and light and goes great with turkey.


Cranberry Relish Recipe


2 cups fresh cranberries

2 fuji apples (or other sweet variety)

1 orange

1 cup sugar (more or less to taste)


Individually chop up the fruits in the food processor.  If you do them all together, they will become really mushy.

Add in the sugar and mix

Refrigerate and serve.

In addition to our cranberry relish we also had a turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans and rolls.  It was simple, but really yummy!


The mashed potatoes Aiden and I ate were simply yukon gold potatoes with almond milk and they were delicious.  You could add some salt and pepper for more flavor, but I didn’t because babies aren’t supposed to eat salt.



We did not add butter or flour to the turkey, but we added olive oil, salt, pepper, a lemon, carrots, celery, onions, parsnips and rosemary to flavor.

DSC01247 He ate a little bit of it – definitely not the entire plate, but I think it was a success.  He liked sucking on the green beans.

I also went to Gluten Escape in Aurora and got some rolls and cupcakes for myself to indulge in.  All their recipes are gluten, dairy and soy free and most are egg free also. Score!

Okay now we’ve got 23 days until Christmas so I guess there is work to be done!
