Top Five Friday Favorites

We’ve taken a little hiatus from the Friday Favorites for the past couple weeks and I thought it would be nice to bring it back.

Tips on transporting Thanksgiving food.  We all have times when we are trying to transport food and it’s a huge hassle and inevitably something gets ruined.  This, my friends, is a slide show of how to prevent these mishaps when traveling with food.

Cowboy Caviar. I’m really craving some good dips lately (especially since I’m back on the no gluten, eggs or dairy regimen).  Mexican food is one of those types of foods that can taste completely “normal” with no extra instructions needed to avoid these foods most of the time.  Who doesn’t love some corn, avocado, tomato, black beans and cilantro all combined?

38 Books to read out loud to your kids.  This link has all the classic books we read as kids on it.  I was trying to remember them all the other day so I can read them to Aiden when he gets older.  I know I’m bringing out my inner nerd, but I seriously loved Ramona Quimby!  I wasn’t sure if a boy would like it as much, but this list says yes!

Fried Mashed Potato Balls.  I’ve never tried anything quite like this before, but who wouldn’t like fried mashed potatoes?  I like fried potatoes any other way.

Gluten-Free Waffles.  I am missing typical breakfast foods right now.  All the other meals aren’t so hard, but breakfast is supposed to be gluten-y (a new word I made up).  I suppose I am going to have to start whipping up batches of gluten-free breakfast goodies, such as these.  Thank God for geniuses that create gluten-free breads.

That’s all I have for today!  It’s David’s 30th Birthday tomorrow! Woo hoo… last day of his 20’s today.  We have some excited weekend plans – I’ll be back with a recap on Monday!

What gems did you find on the internet this week?

What are you doing this weekend?

  1. Fried potato balls are heavenly. They have them as an appetizer at our fave pub. So good. I tried to do a baked version at home…not as good, sigh. Isn’t that how it always is with the fried things though?
B-fast is my fave meal of the day. It is def. suppose to be gluten-y though. Nifty when you can make gluten free gluten-y things.
