A Day in the Life: 3.5 Months Old

Okay you totally caught me… Aiden is much older than 3.5 months old right now, but I completely forgot got distracted and haven’t posted this yet.  However, I thought it would be fun to compare just how different our days are in two months – and I wouldn’t want to leave any of you with 3.5 month olds stranded!

2:00-2:20 am: Wake up to feed Aiden

4:00 am: Wakes up to be fed again (or comfort feed)?

4:25 am: Refuses to stay in his bed and comes to sleep in mine

4:25-7:30 am: On and off latching and eating

7:30-8:00 am: Play in bed – Aiden loves to watch the ceiling fan and practices sitting and standing while laughing

8:15-8:30 am: Aiden gets a bath and it never fails, pees in the bath, so we start over.

8:30-8:45 am: I get to EAT breakfast! Aiden plays in his little Baby Bjorn chair and watches me and then inevitably gets fussy

8:45-9:00 am: I check emails and read articles online

9:00-9:20 am: Aiden eats again

9:20-9:35: I get ready for playgroup.  I’m sorry to all those I am around for looking like I only took 15 minutes to fully get ready.

9:35 am-12:00 pm: Go to playgroup.  This includes drive time.  Aiden loves to watch other babies!  He also eats and sleeps during playgroup and in the car on and off.

12:00-1:30 pm: Meet with another yoga teacher and plan our new yoga class.  Aiden eats, plays and sleeps during this time.

1:30-2:00 pm: Drive-thru Starbucks time.  Each week I treat myself to a chai tea latte after playgroup.

2:00-3:00 pm: Make dinner and clean the kitchen

3:00-3:45 pm: Play time in Aiden’s room.  We do tummy time, read books and sing.

3:45-4:15 pm: Feed Aiden

4:30-5:30 pm: Gym.  I leave the house alone and run for 30 minutes on the treadmill.

6:00 pm: I eat dinner!

6:15 pm: More playtime for Aiden and he eats again.

7:00 pm: Get ready for bed.  We read stories and sing songs after we change him and put on his pajamas.

7:15 pm: Feed Aiden to nurse him down.  After he is sufficiently asleep on me, I gently put him in his rock n’ play in our room.  He usually wakes up and cries and we repeat this step a couple times.

He is sleeping for about 3-4.5 hours in the first stretch of sleep and then he wakes up every two hours after that until we get up in the morning.

9:00 pm: I lay in bed, read blogs and will myself to go to sleep!

I love our days together!  They are tiring, but they are rewarding and I watch him grow every.single.day.

Edited to add: I’m going to post what he is like now at 5.5 months next week.  After reading this again now, I remembered that he wasn’t taking naps unless we were in the car or he fell asleep on me.  I remember being worried that the little man would never sleep.  I’m happy to say now he definitely takes naps.  I am having to remember that we can’t be gone for too long without him having a nap or it’s all downhill from there.  We also hit a hard sleep regression for a month right after this.  We are also now getting out of that too!

  1. I love this post!! I forgot how much crazier life is with a baby that is just two months younger than Logan. I keep telling my hubby that I’m ready for another one…and I think it’s because I’ve totally forgotten the newborn stage now. You two are too cute!

    • Yeah it is amazing to go back and think about those days. It’s crazy how many stages these little guys go through too! I’m always in awe at how well Logan sleeps! You did well with the sleep training:)
