So I found my new obsession! Â Vanilla and butter flavoring! Â I got the idea from Julie over at Peanut Butter Fingers. Â She is always coming up with great new food ideas.
Anyways, last night after dinner, I was craving a shake (not to be confused with a smoothie). Â I wanted something sweet and savory. Â I created a Chocolate-Vanilla-Butter Shake and it definitely hit the spot!
1 C. Almond Milk
1/4 tsp. Vanilla Butter Flavoring
1 scoop Vanilla Pea Protein (Should have used chocolate, since that’s what I was craving, but I was out)
1 tsp. Cocoa Powder
4 Ice Cubes
1/4 tsp. Chia Seeds
A pinch of Xantham Gum (thickens)
I drank it in 2 seconds flat I think! Â The only thing I would say about this recipe is that it was better once the ice crystals melted in the smoothie; in the first couple sips, I tasted the ice crystals.
I put this flavoring in my oatmeal too! Â Also a winner:)
On Sunday and yesterday, I decided to try something new and went to a Barbell Strength class at my gym. Â It’s similar to Body Pump, for all you Body Pumpers out there. Â We do a strength move (or multiple) for each body part from head to toe. Â Depending on the instructor, the sets/reps differ. Â On Sunday, we did each exercise in sets starting with 10 reps, then 9 reps, then 8 reps and so on. Â We did this twice for each exercise.
Today, however, we did “tri-sets.” Â Our instructor gave us three exercises per body part and we did 16 reps for the first set, then 12 reps for the second because we were under a time constraint. Â Both were good, but I got a better workout doing the 10, 9 , 8… because there were more reps. Â Today, I needed to up the weight more and it would have been a better workout. Â Since it was only my second time, I wasn’t prepared for the variation.
“Tri-sets” would be excellent for a regular strength training workout also, which is what I’m going to have the girls do at work!
I am now extra-sufficiently sore from working out in the past 5 days:)
