For the night time festivities for the party, I decided that a progressive dinner at various locations around the Twin Cities would be fun. I had Brittany pick three of her favorite restaurants that were all over of the city. Â She picked one across the street from the beautiful Calhoun Lake in uptown Minneapolis, one in St. Paul, and the last one in the heart of Minneapolis’ downtown. Â We rented a limo for transportation for us and needless to say, a HUGE Hummer limo showed up at her house!
Disclaimer: I did a horrible job of taking pictures of the gloriousness of food I consumed this night. Â I have a few things, but actually failed rather miserably at documenting this portion of the night.
First up, Urban Eatery in uptown. Â This was a cool little place. Â It was right across the street from Lake Calhoun, which is pretty big. Â We got to sit outside and enjoy all the views of the lake and urban settings. Â We ordered cocktails and appetizers here. Â I had a mojito, which was pretty dang good. Â We also shared the sweet potato fries, guacamole and chips, and avocado/tomato pizza (apparently we were feeling avocados).
Secondly, we headed to St. Paul for some wine and Italian food at a place called La Grolla. Â This was a more quaint place, but had amazing food and wine. Â We split bottles of wine and then three of us split:
Cappellini al Basilico e Pomodoro
Angel Hair sautéed with Fresh Tomato, Basil and Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Pan Seared Chicken Breast with Shallots, Sun-dried Tomato, Champagne Cream Sauce
Each dish was really good, but also really filling. Â I was completely stuffed when I left there, but I also couldn’t stop eating because it was so good and I NEVER eat this food!
Lastly, we went to Brittany’s favorite restaurant in the twin cities – Manny’s. Â It’s a upscale steak house with a little more fun atmosphere than the stuffy steak houses you are probably thinking of. Â We got dessert and cocktails here and my did we get DESSERT!
We ordered the brownie that had a tub of ice cream and whipped cream with hot fudge drizzled on it and a
pie slice of key lime pie. We got cocktails at Manny’s as well, which was really good and came with a hibiscus flower in the drink!
All in all, I think we had a very successful weekend for this lil’ bridey.
