Today is an awesome day. Â Janetha of Meals and Moves Blog took the plunge to help another blogger who was recently diagnosed with cancer with her $5,000 per month out of pocket medical costs. Â She created a live auction on her blog and asked several other bloggers and companies to help provide items to auction off. Â There are hundreds of items, anywhere from services to baked goods and fitness stuff to books and travel/entertainment! Â I was of course most interested in the baked goods. Â They have tons of healthy and unhealthy stuff to choose from and it’s obviously going to a great cause.
Here are several good posts that Susan has written in her journey thus far.
- A long, hard road – This is where Susan first shares her initial diagnosis
- Cancer. Day One – She expresses the reality of her new diagnosis
- Some Cancer Questions Answered
- Lymphoma Explained – Susan explains her diagnosis thoroughly
It’s so incredible when people get together and tackle something this big! Â At 12 pm EST, they were at the $12,000 mark. Â I think this proves how powerful individuals can be when they set their sights on something. Â I’m so happy to watch such an amazing thing help someone so much!
Healthcare will forever be a debate in all countries, not just ours. Â I know that a lot of people wish they were on the Canandian healthcare system, but we see in situations like this one, the grass may just look greener on the other side. Â They still have private insurance to ensure all healthcare is paid for. Â This was very eye-opening to me that there isn’t a one-size-fits all answer to this debate. Â Sure, there are great things about the Canandian healthcare system, but there are also downfalls. In Susan’s case, there is a lot of debate in her providence about how her medications are costing her $5,000 out of pocket per month until she is off chemotherapy and has beat cancer! Â That’s very expensive and the drugs are a necessity to save her life.
Please go to the auction and bid your little heart out to help Susan!!
