True Rest Wasn’t So Restful

True Rest Wasn’t So Restful

For my birthday back in February, I asked for a gift certificate to True Rest, a float spa.  I’m always up for trying new wellness activities and was intrigued when I heard about it.  It’s taken me until today to use it, but today was the day!  I have been battling lower back pain since last Fall on and off and this claims pain relief, so I was in.

Float spas are “pods” that are big enough for a person to fit inside and you float on the water.  You float effortlessly because there is 1,400 lbs. of epsom salt poured into the water which creates a 0 gravity environment.  Sounds nice, right?  I think had I been able to fully relax, and get over the overpowering saltiness of the water, it would have been good.  The salt kept getting in my eyes every time I was relaxed and I’d have to get up, spray water in them, and dry them off.  This was a cycle for awhile.  I have a problem with just laying and relaxing (I personally think most people do), so I also got a little bored.  An employee told me that happens to everyone that first time though.  I am glad that I tried it, but I think I prefer the old-fashioned massage or acupuncture:)

The Pod

I’m glad that I tried it and can now cross that off my list.  Oh yeah, and it was located next to AJ’s Fine Foods, which is my favorite mecca for specialty beverages and tea, so I picked up a Jone’s pomegranate soda with zero calories!  This brand has more of a natural approach in creating their sodas, but I still wouldn’t drink them everyday.  Off to pick up my honey from work:)
